Product Details

The Transio A52 is a rugged serial converter designed by Moxa for industrial environments. Its primary job is to bridge the gap between standard PC serial ports (RS-232) and industrial field devices (RS-422 or RS-485).

Technical Overview:

Bi-Directional Conversion: Converts RS-232 signals to RS-422 (4-wire) or RS-485 (2-wire/4-wire).
Distance Extension: Extends the transmission range from the 15-meter limit of RS-232 up to 1.2 km (4000 ft).
Network Capacity: In RS-485 mode, it supports multidrop configurations, allowing one serial port to control up to 32 devices.

Key Technologies

ADDC™ (Automatic Data Direction Control): This is a hardware-level feature that automatically manages the "handshaking" required for RS-485. You don't need to write extra software code to handle the timing of data transmission.
Isolation & Protection: It features built-in Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) protection to prevent damage from electrical surges on the RS-422/485 lines.

Hardware Specifications

Input Voltage: 9 to 30 VDC.
Indicators: Top-panel LEDs for Power, TxD (Transmit), RxD (Receive), RTS, and CTS.
Connector Options:
- RS-232 side: DB9 female or DB25 female.
